Boats on Show

Fishstock 2011 will have for the first time a crab boat demonstrating a from "boat to throat experience" which can be seen on the quayside. The Really Interesting Crab Company have kindly sponsored the event and are also demonstrating how crabs are caught, processed and bought from sea to plate. They are a Brixham based Company who have gone from strength to strength and have kindly agreed to tie up alongside quay and demonstrate and exhibit all day the crabbing process.

Historic Diving and Marine exhibits

The 2011 heritage area of Fishstock sees an array of marine and fishing history through the ages. Fishstock are fortunate this year to see for the first time a historic diving section thanks to Millennium Marine Contractors and Ray Ives (Plymouth).

Withy Pot Making

Fishstock would not be complete without a demonstration of Withy Pot making through the course of the day. This year sees the return of Alan Lander demonstrating all day the old fashioned heritage craft of making Withy Pots.

Heritage Skills

This year sees the return of John Lovell with his net making and rope skills and Alan Lander who will be demonstrating withy pot making. 2011 sees for the first time a demonstration of metal wire splicing from Ollie Sinar of C & S Rigging and Marine, a Brixham based business. Ollie will be on hand with his splicing horse demonstrating the skills of metal wire splicing. Fishstock are very excited this year to welcome John Copik with his demonstration of trawl making. John has many years experience as not only a Brixham fisherman, but an expert on trawl and gear making and there will therefore be a full compliment of heritage demonstrating across the different types of gear.
